Why Do I Say PNC Bank is Evil?

"Unbelievable, that can't be true..."
"There has to be an underlying reason…"
"That makes no sense…"

These are consistent responses of the many customers who took the time to call me at my personal residence. A continuing response from my friends, family, and church members. A shocking response because all of them know the honest and reliable person I am. Legitimate responses of all the people who have been made aware of one of the most brutal & illogical acts done by PNC Bank.

October was when this nightmare began. I was the primary provider for my family and had to endure a week’s worth of torture. Something that most would deem as cruel and unjust…
I received a phone call from Peggy A., the employee relations market manager, on Monday, October 18th. The initial conversation could be described as manipulative as she wanted me to admit to an act I would not do. She ended the conversation by stating, "You understand the seriousness of the situation don‘t you?"

Then days of torture began. I was never so afraid in my entire life. I was scared for my child's well being and the life of my unborn child as well. Wondering how my family would survive. Afraid of having to foreclose on my home. All the thoughts and feelings an honest hardworking mother should not have to endure.

It was not until a week later, Friday, October 22nd that my nightmare became reality. I was terminated from PNC Bank. The reason determined for termination was “dishonesty.” I was terminated over the phone. I was represented by Dan D, Regional Manager, in person, and Peggy A. by phone. However, the manager I had worked with for years before, Jason F., was not involved in the decision whatsoever.

The explanation for the policy violation was that I had input incorrect dates from a driver’s license when opening an account for an existing customer. The date of the accused accusation was from sometime in February 2010. Since this was almost 9 months before the day I was made aware, it was impossible for me to remember the details of the interaction. Just 3 months after the conversion I was aware that it would be a PNC policy violation to not update identification for all accounts opened and knew the consequences of not doing so. I was questioned about the details of the Patriotic Act and whether I was aware or not that both PNC and National City Bank enforced it. I responded that I was aware that both institutions enforced it, but that National City had its own guidelines around “KYC.” National City did not require/enforce a policy that identification be obtained and input into a new account application for an existing customer. “Known” or “Signature Card” were acceptable forms if the customer was existing and known. If incorrect dates were applied to the new account application it was a mistake. I never received any type of warning from management; I was terminated.

In November or December I was directly involved with a similar situation involving my former assistant manager. Because I was her manager at the time I was involved in discussion around her accused violation. This discussion took place via conference call between myself, Kathy C., and the employee relations manager Peggy A. This employee knowingly falsified a social security number for a minor on a new custodial account in order to get the account opened. This employee informed the customer to call to provide the correct information at a later time. I attempted to save her job and position even though I was told it was a violation of policy and that it called for immediate termination. This employee still works there today. She now holds my previous position as branch manager.

Not only did it take months to terminate me after discovering a problem with the account, but I was also forced to wait an extra week from the date I was made aware until the actual date of termination. I was told that it was about “consistency throughout the corporation” and that an exception could not be made. How is the situation between myself and my former assistant consistent?

I was an employee of National City/PNC Bank for 9 years. I was promoted to branch manager in April of 2007 and took over the Lawrence Village Branch, which was at the time a poor performing, unmotivated branch. Over a very short time I improved the branch, built a tremendous customer base, and consistently increased sales and profitability. Since the conversion to PNC Bank my branch also consistently maintained a 5-star status, even through the conversion in November 2009.

As of the date I was terminated I was pregnant and 1 month away from my due date. I was left with no health insurance for my family as I was the primary source of income and benefits. I feel discriminated against; my upcoming maternity leave was something PNC Bank did not want to pay for. I struggled for the entire month of December because I was not being paid by unemployment due to the birth of my child. If I was still employed at PNC Bank, my 4-6 week maternity leave would have been paid for. I was also told I would not get my well deserved incentive pay for the 3rd quarter. However, I suppose an exception was made because a check for incentive was mailed to me in December.

I was granted unemployment in November. However, on December 5th I received an appeal from PNC Bank with a hearing date of 01/05/2010, which PNC attended via conference call. Included in the appeal was a typed explanation from the employee relations manager who had terminated me, Peggy A. Ironically, this letter of explanation included an incorrect date typed - 12/124/2010. A mistake I’m sure. The letter also mistakenly accused that I had a motive to collect incentives. Branch managers do not collect incentives for accounts opened.

The FACT is, PNC fired a dedicated, honest, and customer service driven employee. To further continue this pain and suffering, PNC tried to hurt my family by further fighting my unemployment pay. A horrific thing to do, especially when they had absolutely no good reason for it. If I did enter a wrong date into the system, it was done accidentally. Nobody is perfect, as demonstrated by Peggy A’s letter of appeal.

Because Pennsylvania is at-will employment State, PNC may have destroyed everything I worked for during the past decade, those involved will be judged.

More to come...

  1. I was fired from pnc for a rule violation, I knew of another for a rule violation, and she only got a warning...Why the difference in the punishment?

  2. When I read your post, it is so much the same as my situation, except your personal responsibilities. My Peggy's name was Gail, my branch Manager Judy, wouldn't even look at me, or talk to me. Gail never met me, did all over the phone. She wouldn't listen to anything I had to say about the situation, dismissed anybody else involvement. Rick the regional came in when they put me on Administrative leave, said he was there because Judy(bm)was afraid she would lose my friendship. Haven't heard anything from her and it has been almost 3months now. Judy never said a word to me, I got the call on Monday, and leave on Wednesday. She told a former employee she missed me. I can't figure out how they can keep such a unethical person as her. She was standing right beside me when I waited on a relative, we had a conversation about it, she was to sign the transaction, no monies were exchanged, the other teller, said she was closed and leaving, I was the only one open. I was told by Gail, that the relative should have used the ATM machine, her transaction wouldn't have been available for 4 days, or I should have sent her to the closest branch which was 6 miles away, and this person was on their way home, the opposite direction. I was told I signed a paper in Dec 2010 saying never to wait on a relative. My branch manager/friend, said I was the best TBS in PNC, so where was my warning, never to do it again, why wasn't she fired, my job was given to a much younger employee from another branch. I planned on retiring from PNC, I was there this time for 8 years, and actually had credit for being there for 16 years.

  3. I was denied unemployment, and have to fight it, and the decision isn't done yet..if I don't win this one, then I have to appeal again.
I was making 32k a year, and to go out and find a job, starting all over again, is going to be half the pay.
I have had to refinance our house, which is not done yet, use all my 401k to pay off car bills etc..I have no income coming in.
My life has changed so much, but I don't blame it on Pnc, even tho it is getting to be such a big corporation, that they didn't even take the time to see who they were firing, not one person talked to me about what was going on...Rick, the Regional shook my hand, handed me some tissues, and asked me if I wanted to leave by the back door, really, I walked out the front, talked to no one, and they didn't say anything to me.
The branch manager, mailed me my belongings, less then a week later. I received them the same day we buried my father-in-law. They even sent me my lunch in the boxes, yogurt. I live 4 miles from the branch.
Pnc bank is ran by people, they are just people with their own issues and faults, allot of those people should not be in a titled position.
My branch manager being one of those people, she deposited her own monies by accident into a customers account, she then had to debit the account, she used a customers debit card by accident, because she thought it was her own at the end of the day and took it off her desk and put it in her purse, she did two purchases, before she realized it was someone else s card and went back and refunded it to the customers account, lucky for her, he found it amusing.
She put her own loan on, the customer service person computer that she used was so pissed and still dislikes Judy immensely and wanted Judy fired. This is a whole other story, but her and the CS didn't get along, and the tension in the branch was awful. All I heard from Judy is I going to be fired, which was a every other day for her to say that. When the other employee that worked there her uncle complained she was telling other family members information around, John came in and complained to the customer service person, we called the regional, Gail got in touch with the employee, Tanya...and Judy told me it was a she said, he said situation in the end, but Judy knew before the uncle complained to the CS person, and she cleaned out her desk and took her personals home, because she was sure she was being fired then too.
When we got a bad employee Gallup, she said it was a reflection off me too, because I was a TBS
there forth, a supervisor. I knew it was for her..she said she was quitting because if that was how they felt about her then she was just going to move on...I wanted to tell her please go, but I didn't I was supportive, and let her blame me too, and said this is a learning opportunity for you.
I told her constantly when she talked negatively, to take care of herself and be in touch with her Regional, Rick, and Luann, unsure what her title is, sales... Luann is a whole other story too. She once had a dream about sending me to another branch, when PNC or our region, who knows whose idea it was, maybe Luann had a dream, they sent me to another branch, which was over 20 miles from my home, compared to 4 miles...because Luann had hand picked a customer to work at PNC because she liked her looks, and the branch I got transferred was to far for this new person to drive, so she wanted to give the new person a closer place to work...so I was given the branch the new person was originally going to work at. I was the only TBS moved at that time, the rest were all managers. I seen some dumb stuff done by pnc people in charge, this was one of the dumbest ones and I am not talking about just moving me, but the movement of all the branch managers, it sent the customers into a frenzy. More on Luann and other players later.

  4. Black Friday today, so since I am unemployed, have off, and no monies, what a hoot.
My hearing is Monday, received the file in the mail about what was said about me from Gail/hr woman, and found lies and typos, amazing.
Going to look for jobs this am, I need to get out of this house.
Tammy since you don't come to your blog anymore, I do hope you are doing well and means you moved on.
I plan on writing a paper, and sending it to newspapers, pnc main office and to anyone I can think of.
Also, EEOC needs to be contacted more to the stories, then rule violations.

  5. Had my hearing today, ref said it would take up to 2 weeks to see if I get funds or not.
Christmas might not come to our house this year.
I felt pretty good tho, and my rep said I did well, I hope.
After, we came out of the hearing the garage guy called my hubby to tell him it would cost him $550 to get his truck inspected.
    Next.....

  7. Well, I came on the site to delete my post, which however I can't seem to do.
I will figure it out eventually...I thought my thoughts are my thoughts and should stay my thoughts.
The wind has gone out of my sails, I lost my hearing, still no monies coming in....canceled my loan, and trying a new bank, and the hassle starts again and Christmas is just around the corner. I was listening to PBS today about the money tool Susan Orman, today and I really liked what she was saying. Live within your means, and I know I wasn't.
I found out during the hearing another employee turned me in, and I bet I could say Thank you Tanya, instead of helping. The one said I can't help I am closed. Instead of saying Jen HR told me this, and you shouldn't do that...but, really I should have known better, why didn't I. It was my job to know...but, if they invested so much time and money on me as the Hr said, why wasn't it a warning, why didn't the Branch manager get in trouble, why would the full time teller turn me in, did she go to the branch manager...what happen. Why didn't the ref asked all these questions...
I would like to know all the answers to these questions.
I have a ex-manager from pnc ask me to apply at her branch, and I did, I haven't heard a word back at all...the hr person was at the interview, and I according to my firing broke a policy and procedure...I am now officially a criminal, so it seems. I was honest on my application.

  8. So, I haven't tried to delete post, if they can help anyone else in trouble, or maybe there are more pnc employees out there, that have been fired unfairly. I been in touch with a branch manager, fired the same time I was, she like me had health issues, and she just informed me another branch manager was fired, and I asked if she had health issues and she said she did.
I got on legal match and a lawyer got in touch with me, about my FMLA....I think this had allot to do with my firing, the rule violation decision. I think that is why no one had my back during all this...
I was harassed by my branch manager and the sales regional, which seem to be buddies.
They seem to be in touch text-ing and Luann was helping Judy through her rough time at PNC, because of her own doing with the customer service person, putting on her own loan and her knowing about Tanya's uncle John, saying Tanya was telling others in her family about his PNC business. Luann, was giving Judy books and her own experience with menopause, that is what Judy was calling it, I differ on that, but that would be my opinion. I worked with Judy since the end of 2005, and had worked with her before that, and she diffidently had issues, menopause might have been one of them, she was either up or down and brought all her personal issues to work with her, sometimes yelling on her phone to family members, and customers could hear her.
I made excuses for her then to, to the customers. When you came in to work in the morning, you never knew what kind of mood she would be in. I would put up with her moods for a while, but if they lasted to long, I would tell her about it. She called me her friend, and then she stabbed me in the back...but, I regress here. So, Luann gave her information and a book on vitamins, Judy needed to see a doctor, and she took the ones Luann advised her to take, she did tell me that they were helping her concentrate. I didn't see it so much.
Now, Tanya, don't know to much about her, she was pushed on us by the regional, Rick, now he would say not, but he put the idea in Judy's head, and she is a a..kisser, and a coward, so she did interview, one other internal, employee..Katie, then she turned down interviewing outside PNC branch. She didn't hire Katie, because she knew her, and had worked with her before and told me I wouldn't want her at the teller line, but she also said that, and this was her first reason, was Katie's age, we would train Katie(ummm Katie was already trained) and she would be fully retiring in a couple of years, and Katie only wanted the benefits until she could fully retire and then we would have to train someone else...so she said we had no choice but to hire Tanya...
Tanya, came from another branch, the branch manager there wanted her FIRED, she was demoted from TBS to regular teller, and instead of firing her, they decided to place in her in another branch...lucky us.
I told Judy from the get go, didn't trust Tanya, something about her, and even though she was old enough, she still acted like she was in high school, she was forever on her cell phone, talking to her live-in, and constantly whispering to Judy..I complained to Judy about both. I think now, Judy was in her own little world, worrying about the CS,the gallup, about getting fired for her part in everything, and her personal life, wow that is a story in itself, but not mine to tell.
Tanya, comes to our branch, and soon after that her uncle comes in and starts to complain, she was constantly on the phone to HR, yes yours truly Gail.
Tanya and Judy were only worried about one thing and that was themselves, and I am sure neither could afford to lose their jobs.
But, I couldn't either, and I want so much for them to realize what they did to a person they called a friend(not so much Tanya).
I want Luann and Rick to be aware too, I was a honest, trustworthy, got your back PNC employee.

  9. So, talked with a business pnc customer the other day and she said the branch manager, and the full time teller will no longer wait on her, because they use the services of this business customer. They make her wait for another employee to do wait on her now,you have to remember this branch might have 3 full time employees and 2 part time employees. This is ridiculous, the customer said to me, I don't get that, it is not like we are friends, we don't hang out or call each other.
The branch manager does not qualify to have her title.

  10. I am so sorry it has taken me so long to write. My life just hasn't been the same since this happened to me and it has already been over a year. But i have to say how wonderful my life is without them. Yes of course it was probably the most horrible thing i will ever go through and it has been really hard to have the attitude that "everyth ing happens for a reason" but over these long long months it really has gotten better. I actually had an interview at another bank the other day and of course i had to explain what happened with pnc (because they ruined our work history) and the cool thing was as a bank they were not surprised. They took on a lot of pnc customers and employees with the change over and have heard enough stories. So keep that in mind. They asked me how i have remained so positive and strong through all of this and i told them it is pnc's loss...now i can make another company great. I really pray that everything works out for you; i think about you a lot and wish i could help to take your grief and pain away because i know what you are going through. It makes it really tough to enjoy the holidays that's for sure. If i could help you in any way please let me know. I pray that you may have a merry Christmas and a new start for a new year.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thank you Tammy.
Actually, Christmas was OK, my hubby and I didn't buy each other anything, but this isn't the first year that we have done this.
Tho our well pump went out Christmas day, and we finally got water this am, and I am unsure of the cost, my hubby is guessing $800 or more, when it rains it pours.
I DO NOT miss working at PNC bank, even the people working there said how bad it was getting with all the changes. I especially do not miss working with Judy, the branch manager.
I filled out application after application lately, I applied for only one bank, trying to stay away from them, even tho, like you I would be a asset to any of them, it was PNC's loss. I was very good at what I did.
You are right they have ruined my work history, I have explained over and over on applications, why I was fired...how would it sound to you, if you were doing the hiring, and you had someone say I was fired for rule violation, willful misconduct they called it, violation of policy and procedures, I am now a criminal, yet I did not commit fraud, steal money in anyway, have not been dishonest, been nothing but truthful.
I am trying to move on from this, it is hard, and the worse part is I have no-one to talk to about it. People say get over it move on, they don't understand, because it didn't happen to them. I feel betrayed. It has been 4 months.
I am still fighting the unemployment issue, that is so unfair, kick me when I am down.
The smug HR person, preached honesty and integrity, and lied 3 times during this unemployment procedure and the UC ref, didn't care, how do you fight these people????
I am planning on writing several letters, it will be my last stand, because I don't see me winning this board review either. I have to do at least this much, maybe someone out there will care in PNC land.
My New Year's resolution, is to stay strong and positive, I know it will eventually come.
Thanks for writing and take care.
I am pulling for you and your new job...good luck!!

  12. 1. "No, we didn't think about how we treated 'similarly situated' employees. Each employee stands on his own." This is my worst nightmare, and unfortunately, it is a nightmare that occasionally comes true. Any time an employee is disciplined (or "coached") about poor performance or disciplined for a rule violation or bad behavior, HR 101 teaches that the decisionmaker should make sure that the employee is being treated essentially* the same as other employees who committed similar violations. (In the labor world, this is known as "following past practice.") "That which we call a rose/By any other name would smell as sweet" -- whatever you call it, it ensures that you are being consistent, which will help you defeat a claim of discriminatory or retaliatory treatment. The same principle should apply to compensation decisions, by the way.
I found this on a website Employment at will...
I do believe I could have had a case and won on this one...
I had a conversation with another employee, after I was fired...she violated the rules with refunding another employee, and she was only given a warning.
I do believe at this point I can no longer introduce any new evidence.

    ReplyDelete
  13. My case went to the board of review, in Pa...I am waiting for their decision, not with hope, I don't really see that.
I have talked with other people and every one says did you fight it...and I ask how, how do you fight a corporation when the law is clearly on their side.
The employee that turned me, I believe it was retaliation on her part, because I was part of why she was being investigated, of her telling relatives what was in her uncles accounts....her uncle came in angrily saying she was telling his sister what he had with pnc, I called the regional(only because the branch manager was out) and he had us call the HR department...did she blame it all on me, and it was allot different, when my daughter came in and wanted her deposit done, and to her it didn't matter who did it, and the fact I was the only one available...and the fact that, that teller, the whistle blower, said she couldn't do it, and the fact that the branch manager stood beside me during the transaction.

  14. It has been five days now since PNC terminated me. I completely take the blame for the reason [ a rule violation ] but I think it was very unprofessional the way Devin Starks called and terminated me over the phone.

    ReplyDelete
  15. PNC is such a big corporation, it is so impersonal-able anymore.
Bree, you should recover quickly, if you feel that you deserved firing.
It personally took, me five months, not to even dream about the betrayal I felt from Pnc and my ex-fellow employees.

  16. I AM TERMINATED PNC EMPLOYEE. TWELVE YEARS OF SERVICE INCLUDING EIGHT YEARS WITH THE NATIONAL BANK OF FREDERICKSBURG WHICH WAS ACQUIRED BY PNC IN 2007. SPOTLESS EMPLOYMENT RECORD. PLACED ON PAID ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE ON 9-30-2011 FOR A CODE OF ETHICS VIOLATION THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED AT THAT TIME AND TERMINATED ON 11-2-2011. I AM 50 YEARS OLD, HIGHLY PAID FOR SENIOR TELLER, AND I SPEAK MY MIND WHEN OTHER EMPLOYEES ARE NOT DOING THEIR JOB. MY HR DEVIN TERMED ME OVER THE PHONE "SHEILA YOUR BEHAVIOR IS NOT UP TO PNC STANDARDS". SEVERAL EMPLOYEES AT MY BRANCH HAVE HAD CODE OF ETHICS VIOLATIONS AND WERE ONLY WARNED. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS AGE, WAGE, AND LENGTH OF SERVICE DISCRIMINATION.

    ReplyDelete
  17. So sorry to hear that Sheila. I hope you filed for unemployment and got it. I am still waiting from the board of reviews here, been applying for jobs right and left, but I have been honest about being terminated from PNC, and I explain it in interviews, or online applications over and over and then never get hired, hope you have better luck.
I still would like to address Pnc corporation on the treatment of employees, not that I think they would care, but maybe the news would.

  18. I am still waiting for a decision from the board of reviews, it has been since January. I tried to look online for some information on time wise and nothing. I emailed my representative from uchelpcenter and haven't heard back from them..now that is worrisome. I don't want to know, but need to. Makes for a heavy pit feeling in my stomach.
That I have to go through this isn't even right.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I was terminated from PNC in Feb 2012 for an ethic violation. It was so shady how it happened. I was only employed from Nov 2011-Feb 2012 and from day one I was treated like an outsider because I didn't portray the same trashy-chick attitude the rest of the women-only branch did. They manifest a list of exaggerated complaints about me to ERIC and one day I was finally getting the training for the position I had been in for almost 90 days and I was pulled in the office to find out I had to go on admin leave until I was investigated. I am a single mother to a 10 month old so of course I was very emotional. I couldn't imagine what I could have done so wrong with my 8+ years of banking exp...after no word for a week finally ERIC called with the allegations and the only thing I did that was apparently a violation which everyone in the branch knew I was going to do for almost a month was sell my cell phone to a person I met at work. I never would have thought that would get me in trouble much less fired immediately. Not too mention I had to tolerate constant sexual harassment from one girl while the manager just brushed it off. I was one more instance away from calling ERIC myself about her when I ended up being fired anyway...the BM tried to convince me to take her prescription meds b/c they gave me the worst anxiety and she belittled me on a daily basis after she hired me as a TS...I have never been fired from a job and I am still in shock as to how this was handled. The CSA has been a teller for her boyfriend since she started over a year ago, soliciting her 2nd job as a bartender to get more tip money (but thats ok?), she excepts gifts of monetary value often but again the manager and team stick together...I feel that I was ganged up on b/c I got there and was 100% professional and took my position as a TS seriously and I guess that made them want to get me out of there!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I wish there was something we could all do, but Pa is a fire at will state. It was such a betrayal from them, but the worse is them appealing my unemployment. So, impersonal firing us over the phone. I worked there so long, I have seen so many things happening, that none of the above warrants the firing of any of us...just excuses.
I am still waiting for a decision from the board of reviews...on the good side I start a new job April 9th.
I explained to them what happen, and good for them, they saw beyond that.

    ReplyDelete
  21. So the board of reviews denied me...so Judy Yaw the manager goes reprimanded.
I get this in the mail on the first day of my new job.

  23. PNC bank sent me a letter in Jan. 2010 stating that they would not renew a business loan and wanted all their money back within 2 weeks. The loan amount was $300,000. PNC had bought out a local bank and post financial crisis determined that they had no appetite for loans on land. I had never been late on a payment. At the time I had in excess of $100,000 on deposit in their bank. I immediately withdrew all funds. I found the location and contact information of the asset manager in charge of my case and contacted him by phone. Rude would be putting it mildly. I had been a customer and was cast to the wolves overnight with no advance warning and no contact whatsoever from their local branch who held my deposits and handled my business. If they're the last bank on earth, I'll have my money buried in the back yard.

  24. Asset manager's direct quote; "This is not going to be a bow tie affair. When this is all said and done we won't be sipping champaign and wearing bow ties. This is not going to go well for you. You need to dump the property and write us a check for any principal not covered on the loan. You have assets and we will come after your assets." Thanks, nice customer service. I have the letter requesting immediate repayment and the withdrawl receipt for my funds from PNC the day I received the letter. Property was appraised for $465,000 5 months prior to receiving the letter as ordered by PNC who handed me a bill of $2,500 for the appraisal at the time. Plenty of local business people got similar letters and lost everything on PERFORMING loans that got called in the depths of the worst real estate crash since the great depression. That they would treat their own employees as described by others is unfortunately not surprising to me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I continue to ask real estate professionals how many of their clients who purchase homes get financing from PNC. Most say zero. They don't want to lend money. They want your deposits so they can play the Wall Street game for much bigger potential profits. The worst example of banking degregulation out there. Put your money in a bank that acts like a bank. Don't put your money in one that's basicly a giant sucking machine that redistributes local money to Wall Street. Their entire focus is on getting your funds in their vaults.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Looks like they should have stuck to regular banking. When the stock market was going up they managed to lose a bundle. Must have been betting against the American economy. So sorry they got their back sides handed to them doing it. Should have let a monkey pick stocks for them. LOL

  28. I am so sorry that this happened to you. They are still trying to find ways to just get rid of certain people. The reason they fired you is just beyond rediculous. Be prepared and work hard to fight it. It has been about 2 1/2 years since this happened to me now and I can' t even begin to tell you how wonderful my life is now without them. Its a shame that we had to find out this way that this is not a company we want to work at or make a career with. I pray that you have strength and drive and that everything works out for you. Believe me when I tell you that your life will change for the better. I know you cannot see that right now but with patience you will. Take care.

  29. Have any of the ex employees of pnc been asked to put people into foreclosure so they could get more penalties and fees from that customer with no intent to modify their loans

  30. Hey all...I've applied at PNC for multiple positions. I interview great over the phone and in person. I never hear back after that. I am in my 50's. Maybe this is the reason?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Joyous, yes, it is part of the reason. I was told during a phone interview they were looking for someone "young". When I inquired what that meant, the recruiter said: "early to mid 20's".

  32. Went for on interview at pnc bank / customer service downtown today it was awful experience. If you need sales people why mislead people into thinking that they are there for customer service interview just be honest. Another thing so much for equal opportunity. If you only want a certain type of candidate just say it stop wasting people's time. After the interview I was with the candidate waiting for the verdict.... I overheard someone saying that if you are not successful they will take you on tour then tell you they'll will call you in 24 hours which don't make but that's exactly what they did. Also you are alow to asked your interviewer questions at end of your session, which I did she started giving me attitude as if my question didn't make any sense so much for professionalism. This goes to show no one is perfect and you won't always get perfect answers so don't judge when you don't a perfect answer.

  33. Hi. I just got terminated from PNC today. I've been an employee for 16 years, right out of school. They cited an ethics violation which I flatly denied. I was completely blindsided. Went into work on Monday and all was fine. Came in on Tuesday with Employee Relatins calling me and drilling me on the "situation". I answered honestly and the best I could having been completely taken by surprise. Then the next day, I can to work and they told me I was going to be put on "paid" administrative leave, Howe we had to hand over my ID cards, corporate cards and laptop. Then I had to be escorted to the elevator by my manager who has been a friend of mine for 16 years since we had started together. He couldn't even meet my eyes and when I tried to ask even the most basic question he told me he was not allowed to say anything on threat of termination. So I walked out with only my bag thinking this will be resolved soon. The next morning I got a call saying they were going ahead with termination. I was in shock. In three days time I went from being a dutiful hardworking employee to being unemployed. I am still reeling from it because it happened so fast. I felt naive and unprepared for this type of betrayal. I keep asking why. Was it another reason. Even the reason they cited I violated is inconsequential in my eyes. 16 years, not a single black mark. Promoted many times and held every position I ever asked for. Just had a great review, was told my raise was the biggest in the office and received a nice bonus. So I ask myself...what happened??? 16 years and then in two months I am questioned on integrity?? And now after having read everyone's list, I am wondering if I wil even be granted unemployment.

    1. A company can find something to fire someone over at any time. Most states don't even require a reason. For this, I say watch your back and always expect the office visit to be a pink slip. Find a smaller company, with values, and you'll be happy.

  37. I saw the writing on the wall after 3 months. "Lobby management" was all they had to say. I refused to take the same pay for higher goals so we had a mexican stand off. A few months later I received unemployment and started my masters program. I won't say I'm so much better off but I do feel it was the right move for me.

  38. I have just left PNC. Also to further my education in a masters program. I unfortunately did not leave on good terms. I had given my BM three weeks notice. After that, hell broke loose. Everybody in my branch started treating me differently, making my attitude towards work get even worse than it already was. After a customer stood there and cussed me out in front of a branch full of customers and co-workers, (not a big deal, been cussed out before and dealt with problem customers) my BM and ABM sat in their offices and listened to the whole thing and did nothing. All because I was leaving the company. This guy was bad. Horrible. Bullying women must have been a hobby. My ABM asks to speak with me in her office afterwards. As she is telling me that my attitude is affecting our co-workers, I get up and leave her office astonished and crying as if she didn't hear the entire rant from the customer...expecting me to not be in a bad mood. I call my husband crying (not the first time since being employed at PNC). He finally just said "when does this become unacceptable?" I went in the next day, audited my drawer, and left. I was told I would not get my incentive pay that I worked so hard for. I just got my last paycheck and it seems small. I am not sure if I should bother checking on that... What a blessing to be rid of this toxic time in my life. I worked for a small credit union before PNC. I never realized how good I had it there. I am so ecstatic to be continuing my education. I am keeping a positive outlook on a horrible 7 months of my life wasted at that horrible company.
I am not happy to see all that has happened to you, and my situation certainly is not as bad. I felt for the longest time that it was me. I am glad to see it wasn't just my "horrible attitude"

  39. i was just terminated from pnc on a "dishonesty" charge because when there seemed to be fraud on my account, i didn't go to my manger about the situation. JUST based off of that, nothing more they terminated me. I had only been there a few months & now my last check is extremely lighter than what it should have been, any ideas as to why this happened?? and who should i contact? It was via direct deposit but the amount even with taxes added back in does not make sense based off of the days that i SHOULD have gotten paid for.

  44. I experienced a very similar act...it seems to me that they train the regional managers and ERIC employees to make up allegations to ruin good employees careers .... sad but true ! I enjoyed being the go to person for my clients ! But if PNC wants you gone unfortunately they do what it takes to destroy you and have little empathy ! I was a branch manager that had to deal with racism and an employee who would try to undermine my authority ! I was fair to the young woman , she would call out every week and never was good at sales ! We were a hybrid / universal team ! In the end I realize I am happy to be away from these toxic people ; but I feel very sorry for the customers because they do not train employees who are newer to financial sales but allow dishonest people to play games with peoples futures ! I also belive in Karma and know that there will be a day of reckoning for the three that coluded against me ! The RM , my employee , and the idiotic Employes from ERIC ! You should never be someone who lives life to hurt others , especially when you were a top performer and emapathtic manager who cared ! Good luck to all !

  45. I was a PNC branch manager for 23 years with a good performance record, merit raises and all. I was fired in May 2018 for accidentally inputting the reason for a refund as customer request instead of courtesy refund. I was fired by ERIC in Pittsburgh and I worked in Franklin NC. My Regional Manager had no say so on the matter .PNC called my hasty error "falsification of records" like I was a criminal and stood to gain from my mistake. I think it was age and salary discrimination. I am 63 and was making a healthy salary. I've been replaced by a young former employee of mine who I'm sure makes much less.

  46. I was terminated for "dishonesty" from pnc in 2018 after being on administrative leave. This is because I am disabled and gay but they made up a lot of stuff about me. The enabled employee resource group is poorly attended. Very little interest in working with disabled people at pnc. My boss was a pro trump supporter and posts all kinds of political things online. Pnc employees aren't supposed to be connected with this stuff unless the boss above him, handkerchief guy is also a trump supporter. I WON AT UNEMPLOYMENT. Witch Tara from hr said "don't even try unemployment because you'll lose." WRONG. They made up a lot of stuff to get rid of a gay person. My next step is eeoc and I filed multiple complaints. When pnc lost at unemployment they started another round of investigations but we all know these investigations are just for show. Mr hanky, "the big man" his nickname, gets whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, delivered like 5 large pizzas for him to scarf down while wfh for two weeks. PNC is filled with trump supporters and homophobic people. A very bad place to Work. It took me 5 days to find other work fortunately. I am in the process of closing all my pnc accounts. I want no relationship with those bigoted people. PNC will just be a blurb on my resume in time. Gross place to Work.
